Read what it's really like for women and children after they leave abuse. Backbone's reports are based on the stories, views and experiences of hundreds of women and their children, given anonymously via Backbone surveys. Their voices are largely unpublished elsewhere as women and children are often forbidden by Court orders from talking publicly about their situations.

Sept 2017 - Backbone releases its second report based on findings from its Family Court Survey released in June.

This report is entitled 'Don't Tell Me Your Problems': The Family Court Complaints & Appeals Landscape.

Backbone produced this report as there is currently no clear information available to women and children who have experienced violence and abuse and who want to complain about or appeal matters pertaining to the New Zealand Family Court.
